Stretchy Spring Beanie

Crochet yourself a cute spring beanie in bright and variegated colors. Use decorative buttons and embroidery floss to personalize your cap with flowers, stems and leaves. Even make a matching one in mini-size for baby! It’s easy, quick and takes only one skein of stretchy cotton yarn, a few buttons and some embroidery thread.

Materials:
1 skein of yarn: “Fixation” by Cascade, 98.3% cotton, 1.7% elastic
Size E crochet hook
Embroidery thread
Decorative buttons

Crochet abbreviations:
ch = chain
hdc = half-double crochet
st = stitch
sl st = slip stitch
If instruction is repeated, starts with * and ends with ;

Crochet Instructions:
Ch 4 and join with sl st in first ch to make a loop.

Round 1: Ch 1 and crochet 12 hdc into loop. Sl st to join row.

Round 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each stitch of previous row. Sl st to join row.

Round 3: Repeat Round #2

Round 4: Ch 1, *1 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in next st; rep from *
around. Sl st to join row.

Round 5: Repeat Round #4

Round 6-27: Ch 1, 1 hdc in same st all the way around. Sl st to join.


Sew on a few tiny buttons for flower centers and embroider petals,
stems and leaves around them. Have fun! Get creative!
