Making felted beads is not only easy, but it's beautiful and easy. Felt beads are versatile as well, you can make bracelets, necklaces, felted buttons, zipper pulls, hair poms, and anything else you can think of. Run wild! Learn how to make felted beads here.
To get started, get some merino wool fiber. It must be 100% wool. You'll also need hot water, bar of soap, and some craft glue.
Pull off some wool fiber, and fluff it in your hands, pulling the fibers apart.
Take the fiber and start rolling it into a shorter fat rope. Wet your hands with warm water, and keep rolling until the fibers start to stick together.
Gently squeeze the liquid out a bit, and wait for it to harden. Cut the rope into little pieces that are the same length as they are thick.
Now rub the flat cut end of a bead against your soap bar and roll thebead around in a circular motion between your hands making it round.
Don't let your wool felt bead get soapy. Wipe the excess soap off with a paper towel and continue rolling your bead until it is round and evenly felted,
You know it's finished when it is no longer fuzzy when you take your hand away.
Rinse the soap out of your bead with cold water and allow it to dry.
After the beads are dry, you can mix equal parts craft glue and warm water, soak your already dry wool felt beads, squeeze them out (leave a little liquid in) and let them dry. This hardens the beads more and helps prevent them from becoming fuzzy with wear. You can take the dried, hardened beads and string them together using bracelet wire, and even sew on little glass beads on your felt beads for an even prettier look.
